Masthead
font style and colour to help sell the magazine. The font and colour gives an indication of the target market.
A masthead is the name of the magazine which is displayed at the top of the magazine. It also helps the reader get an idea of the content.
The name must be chosen extremelycarefully as well as the

Tag line
This goes near the masthead and is sometime attached to the masthead
It shows what the magazine is about or who it could be aimed at.
Central image
This is one of the most important parts of the magazine as it is there to catch the reader’s eye before they read the text.
The image will be relevant to the magazines purpose and audience, and it is related to the featured article.
Cover model
This could be a celebrity or a well known person connected to the magazines genre (e.g rock star) posing for a music magazine
Could be a photographic model which would suggest normality rather than a lifestyle of a celebrity
The model will be poses in different ways depending on the mise-en-scene
Such as the way they are dressed, or the scene is lit a certain way.  How is the model posed is it intimidating or seductive. Also why are they wearing those clothes

Q Magazine and Wire Magazine
Q Magazine
Title
The Logo is simple and bold simple but bold. The logo never changes colour on any front cover for the magazine, this shows its importance.
The logo is not covered by anything, this means that it is very important and is easily recognised.
Mise en scene
They have used not many props and the costume is white which kind of blends into the background. This shows me that she is the most important thing on the page apart from the Logo.
The blood on her forehead stands out because it is the same colour as the logo and it stands out against the whiteness of her dress and the background.
The model looks sweet and innocent in her dress but the way she is stood and the blood dripping from her head shows that there is a contrasting under tone of anger or sadness.
Target audience
I would say that the target audience would be for people over the age of 15. This is because they have many genres and there are adverts for concerts that younger children would not go to.
Advertising
They have adverts for Concerts and bands, Films, Technology, Musicals and Festivals.
Genre
The genre for this magazine will be music and film. This is because the tag line says “The modern guide to music and more” and that show the reader that they are focusing on music but there are adverts and reviews for films as well.
Editing
They have used the air brush tool on the models face and hands. They do this because it makes the whole front cover look better and more appealing.
Wire Magazine
Title
The title is covered slightly by the cover model. This shows me that the model is the most important thing on the front cover.
Mise en scene
It looks like they haven’t used a costume or any props, this could mean that what he is doing with his hands and the background and sensory is supposed to draw the audience in.
The magazine looks like it has a hard exterior because of the dark colours and that you can’t see the cover model very well.
Target audience
I think that the target audience is people who like quite a wide range of music but I think it focuses on hip hop and grunge.
Advertising
They have adverts for quite lo key concerts and some not well known bands.
Genre
They keep to music through out the magazine
Editing
They have used very dark colours on the front cover. This is a lot different to other music magazines but I think that it goes well with the genre of the magazine.
